Working with Jason Carr and Lee Thomas: Reflections on Two Amazing News Anchors

In my 17 years as a news producer at Fox 2 News WJBK, I had the privilege of working with some of the best anchors in the business. But there were two anchors who stood out from the rest: Jason Carr and Lee Thomas. These two amazing professionals not only brought their A-game to every show, but they also brought their unique personalities, passions, and perspectives to the job. And I, for one, was honored to work alongside them.

Let’s start with Lee Thomas. Lee is not only an amazing human being, but also an amazing entertainment reporter. I always loved getting the latest movie scoop from him and talking about everything from Marvel movies to big blockbusters. Lee has a way of making even the most mundane story come to life, with his infectious energy, his witty commentary, and his insightful analysis. He’s also a great listener and a true team player, always willing to go the extra mile to help his colleagues succeed.

But what I admire most about Lee is his compassion and his commitment to making a difference in the world. Whether he’s raising awareness about vitiligo or championing causes that matter to him, Lee brings his heart to the job and inspires us all to be better human beings.

Now let’s talk about Jason Carr. Jason is not only fun to work with, but also a kindred spirit when it comes to his love of the 1960s, MCM styles, and old-school radio storytelling. Jason has a gift for weaving together words, music, and sound effects to create immersive stories that transport listeners back in time. His enthusiasm for all things retro is contagious, and his knowledge of history is impressive.

But what I appreciate most about Jason is his dedication to his craft and his ability to connect with audiences on a personal level. Whether he’s hosting a game show, or simply chatting with viewers, Jason brings his authentic self to the job and makes us all feel like we’re part of the family.

Working with Lee and Jason was a highlight of my career as a news producer. They both challenged me, inspired me, and made me a better professional. And while I’ve moved on to a new phase of my career as a media consultant and PR specialist, I will always cherish the memories of working with two amazing news anchors who are not only great at their jobs but also great human beings.
